RetroMIRC32 is a free, browser-based public chat inspired by the classic mIRC32 interface. It currently uses its own secure web transport rather than connecting to outside IRC networks.

Start chatting

  1. Open the chat and choose a nickname.
  2. Choose or type a channel name, then select Connect.
  3. Type a message and press Enter or select Send.

Rooms and private messages

Select Channels to browse active and built-in rooms. Anyone can create a public room by entering a valid unused channel name; its first participant becomes the temporary operator. Use /msg Nickname text for a private conversation and /close to return to the room.

Useful commands

/help lists commands. Common commands include /join #room, /part, /me action, /whois Nick, /ignore Nick, /search words, /reconnect, and /save. Use /report Nickname reason to report abuse.

Files, notifications, and offline use

Connected users can share supported files up to 5 MB. Files expire after seven days. Browser notifications can be enabled in Options while the page is open. The app shell and help pages can reopen offline after a successful online visit; chat messages still require a connection.

Identity and safety

Nicknames are temporary labels, not verified accounts. Do not share passwords or sensitive information. Review the Privacy and Acceptable Use pages before participating.
